Hi all.

Long time no see....

There is crowds that can get you the boxkey from your reciever. Such as boxkey.eu. Are they genuine.... No idea.

Your problem is that once you have the boxkey, there seems to be no N3 cams that allow you to change their boxkey. If you could then you could simply change the boxkey of the cam and you would be good to go.

I did read that if you get a new sub card as your dog ate the old one, if you insert it into say a genuine N3 CAM as can be got on ebay it will pair to that. I believe they use this autopairing in Ireland as when we moved to N3 they simply sent me a new card and i inserted it and left it overnight and then next morning i had full service again, at no stage did i have to call in my IRD or subbox serial etc. If this was the case you could simply order a Nagravision CAM on ebay and get a new card sent out and allow them to pair in your HTPC.

BUT... I don't know if this would actually work as i havn't tried it. Maybe someone here could eleborate for you, esp if VM is completly moving to N3.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as autopairing on N3. The pairing process works simply because the provider (UPC) placed the correct Emm's into the datastream when they issued the cards. The reason you had to wait overnight for it to update was because of the sheer amount of Emm's in the datastream. Probably upto 200,000 at any one time !

If it was autopairing, then it would be an almost instantaneous process similar to the way the Sky cards were swapped.

Basically, this means you cannot pair to any card without knowing the correct pairing keyset (rsa, camid, ird and boxkey).

You cannot use a nagravision cam as you wont know the rsa or boxkey, and even if you did, the rsa will be incorrect for your provider. The cam must be matched to the provider OR the provider must be willing to authorise the cam. Afaik, UPC will not authorise a cam in Ireland.

Thanks Coder,

Very imformative... So its more than a matter of just getting boxkey + RSA from the Subbox such as boxkey.eu provide and assigning it too a N3 cam with assignable boxkey if such a thing existed or would it them be possible.

Indeed UPC won't assign cams, a pity because i would be willing to part with 100euro plus for an official upc issued cam and card with no support at all from them. :-(
