For my sins I am a Virgin Media customer (although I'm not sure that they understand the concept of "customers" at a corporate level - the engineers are always spot on though!).
We have a NTL branded Samsung SMT 2110C set top box which is starting to run slowly at start up and is a bit random when trying to access interactive menus. Additionally I have tried to add a second TV in the bedroom via an RF cable and "magic eye" remote control sensor. The signal for the TV picture carries from STB to the 2nd TV but the remote doesn't work. Troubleshooting suggests turning on the RF power on the STB but there is no facility to do this. I have tried asking Virgin if we can have a new V Box (not V+ just the basic) but they do not accept that I currently have a Samsung box and do not appear to recognise that they exist - quote: "You already have a V box so we can't send you another one" "Why do you want 2 boxes?" "We don't supply those boxes (Samsung) anymore" etc... My questions therefore are: - can I turn RF power on - if so how? - is the remote relay system actually going to work with the STB we have? - is it possible to get a new STB from Virgin? |
