Default Problem with Internet connection

I recently updated my parents PC to run Windows 7 (custom installation) but have been unable to connect them to the net as the computer won't recognise that there is a network driver attached. They are using a Motorola SB4100 with an ethernet connection. I have been unable to download any drivers for this as only the USB ones seem to be available.

I have installed the blueyonder software and am wondering whether that could be out of date for the system, because the surfboard has all the lights on that should be, so there is no problem with the connection, but maybe the surfboard is out of date?

What do you guys think?

I cant imagine what you've done, it should have just worked. There are no drivers for Ethernet, you just plug the cable in and windows default settings should have picked up a IP and DNS.

Well I thought that TDF. I even tried it on my laptop and the same scenario happened.

Yes Matt the modem (and PC) have been re-booted on a number of occasions. Think I will have to try a new lead or something.

Tried a new lead. Still doesn't work. Just keeps saying 'no network driver installed'

Anybody any ideas?

Does the Local Area Connection appear in Change Adapter Settings (Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center). If not, you will need to install the LAN or chipset driver so that Windows can detect that their is an ethernet port available.

The Local Area Connection shows, the modem shows as online, the system shows connections available etc etc but the no network driver message appears. Trouble is, I don't know what the model of the driver is.
