Do you have the exact link to the loader you used in case I'm using an old version? (i've been using the one from Lincsat post on digital kaos blue light problem topic). I've tried it on both of my boxes for test purposes (one good box and the bricked box with the same prob you had) and neither respond to the loader. I'm baffled. Looking to try it on a few old PC's (if I can find any) to use the generic serial port (as I've been using the software mostly on usb/serial adapter). |

I think you might have provided a new lead on the situation for me related to 'device manager' on the computer and matching the settings with that. However, unfortunately matching them up still doesn't spark any life after 'Sync to serial..' Are you able to tell me what your settings are in Device Manager (in case any of the more obscure settings are different and blocking the connection). Mine are: Bits per second: 9600 Data Bits: 8 Patrity: None Stop Bits: 1 Flow Control: None It would be hugely appreciated if you can post the settings that work for you in case DB,SB or FC settings need to be set a certain way. (I tried changing bits per second to 115200 and matching with loader but nothin). Cheers PJ |

Which COM port are you configuring? are you sure that you have the correct port, those USB adapters often go for COM 8 or higher by default, check that you are not trying to use an onboard serial port - many PC's do have them even if there is no connector on the back
![]() It sounds like you have the correct gear and software, I'll bet it's a USB adaptor configuration problem.

FINALLY DID IT!!!! THANK F FOR THAT!! In fact big thanks to Lincsat & tigga69.
The problem was two fold (in case anyone is at all interested or has the same prob). 1, The settings in Device Manager (for the Port) need to be changed to 115200 (and then matched to that on the upgrade software). The default on all the machines I tried it on was 9600 in device manager. 2, The USB to Serial adapter was just a pile of rubbish. An old PC with a serial port finally got the upgrade.exe program pinging with the box. The USB adapter (even though it installed correctly was just a waste of a tenner) was just a very red herring. . A further bit of investigative info. I'm positive that the failed flash update causing the 'purple light' & 'AV error' bricked box was due to 'adding channels'. I'm pretty sure the 'flashing' needs to go on top of a default channel list with no modifications (I found the channel that PPV Sky Box Office boxing was broadcast on and labelled it PPV Boxing before flashing to the new firmware). I didn't delete this channel before flashing. Lincsat - Huge Thanks, tigga69 - Huge Thanks. I'll buy you both a beer if I ever bump into you in the real world!!!
