Can anyone please help. I just updated the firmware for latest public beta (from the FTA section) from below. The flash burned successfully and when it re-loaded, everytime the default 4music channel was changed (by pressing any key on the remote) a 'no signal' message appears (the same as if the scart wasn't plugged in). If I pull the plug out put back in, it will reload to 4music but gain each time I touch anything on the remote the signal goes blank.
The prob is I can't get to the menu screen to re-flash!! ANy help massively appreciated. I got the latest firmware from this link from Private FTA section Eurovox - Folder Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage |

This is the flash file:
EX1100USB_091217_patch.abs I have 2 boxes and it worked fine (with perfect epg and no screen freezes) on the first box i flashed it on. The second box is junked at the moment. I'm sure I repeated the same process (1, restore factory settings from menu, then upgrade via usb the file above). Can anyone help? Or does anyone know a way of re-flashing a box that loses it's connection upon pressing a button the remote. Thanks |

I have exactly the same problem having updated just now...
flashed the box then when it reboots it defaults to a music channel but press any key on remote and I loose the video signal. Thebox appears to have become a 'brick' and will not to work in any way as I can't put box in standby or change anything using the remote. Also when I reboot with the USB stick inserted, once the remote is touched, it appears to loose connection to the USB, ie access light turns off. Any ideas? R. PS I am using EX1100USB_091217 Firmware (868.0 KB) Last edited by tigga69; 02-01-10 at 10:15 AM. Reason: add a note... |

Can you PM me or post here, if you find the answer to this prob in another place (and I'll do vice versa)?? I'm hoping someone really clued up on these boxes can offer help as I just can't see a way around this problem. There needs to be some kind of hard reset or way of auto triggering a firmware update without the menu system. As I have a good box and a junked box at the moment, I've thought that there must be a way of transferring the content from the 1 box to the other box perhaps using the usb slot via cable or via a usb cable and computer. Although, I wouldn't attempt this without some good advice. Last edited by pj_casanis; 02-01-10 at 11:23 AM. |

hi
i didn't think it would work, but i tried anyway... i've looked at using the rs232 upload to reflash and it doesn't work - assume because the box needs to be in recieve mode. So we are both stuck with boxes that should work but for some reason do not. Is there any way to do a full reset without the remote? Is there any way to do a flash upgrade without the remote? thanks R. |

If you did a full factory reset first, there won't be any channel on the box for it to default to. If you have used one of the leaked private betas, the channel list is not compatible and that's likely causing your problem as I have stated previously.
You can recover the box by flashing by null-modem cable using the PC loader application.

my box did exactly the same thing when i flashed it so i used the rs232 loader and updated the box to an earlier firmware then i did a factory reset and deleted all the channels then put on the latest firmware and did a fresh scan and that sorted the problem out for me

THE ANSWER...
Firstly thanks to Lincsat the guru of these products. He corrected me on a few points and put me in the right direction. As Lincsat has correctly pointed out this problem is documented but it is not apparent that the problem we described is the same issue; IT IS. Purple light problem is the same as we have described above. NEXT (and this is critical) The rs232 bootloader works without you needing to change any settings on the EX1100. By this I mean you do not need to go into the menu -> update via rs232 option. However it is important you note the following from lincsat... (search for RS232 loader in google and you will find his thread on the tool.) Quote:
1. download the rs232 loader tool 2. download old version of the f/w 3. power cycle the ex1100 and connect the serial cable 4. upload old f/w without bootloader 5. go to menus and reset to factory defaults - remove all channels 6. reboot 7. upload latest firmware DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RELOAD THE CHANNEL DUMP FROM AN OLD VERSION OF F/W - it won't work. I tried this and had to start from square 1. You need to rebuild your channels and start again with the channel map. (sorry!) To find out what fequency to look at, search for... GUIDE: Eurovox Scanning Settings This guide has a table with the frequencies for the different regions. Thanks again to Lincsat for his help and guidance. (Everyone I speak to I recommend go to him to by the boxes and we should support him as he supports us) R. |

I'm still struggling if anyone can offer any help/advice. From following the instructions I get the screen message: Open Serial Port.. Sync to Serial Port.. (then a long wait with nothing happening) Target not connected or target in error status! I have tried on two machines (an old desktop with XP and using the serial port, and my laptop using a usb-serial adapter with the rs232 cable) Any help much appreciated. |

i used a usb serial adaptor and had no problems
I would suggest the following. 1. read the link i suggested searching for. 2. note the comment from lincsat about the cause of the problem if you get this message. also the serial port settings required. I am assuming it is a serial port issue as it should work. Set the serial port to the right settings in windows - use the device manager to get to the settings. Set the settings in the bootloader application. When i did both the windows and the application settings it worked for me. Hope this helps |
