N3 has nothing to do with a 500T, the T is terrestrial, a 500s is for satellite and a 500c is for cable. The box you have is for connecting to an aerial and there is no such thing as an encrypted terrestrial broadcast, so your box will not be affected. I should image it would be very difficult to set your box up for satellite.

Nothing will work with N3, that is it, anyone tells you anything different is having you on.

I have absolutely no knowledge of UPC, even if I do live in Kerry. If your idea was to fit a sat tuner to overcome N3 then forget it. There is chat of CS for cable, but if it will work it will not be for long, as Sly are taking measures to black CS and all other providers will be sure to follow them.

N3 is secure at the moment and there is not likely to be any change in the near future, so you are wasting your money even thinking about fitting a sat tuner to get what you will be missing on Multi Channel or whatever they call it now. Sorry but that is the way things are and I would not be that hopeful that you would be able to fit a sat tuner and it would turn your box into a sat box. There are better ways of going about receiving satellite, most FTA boxes will give you as much as there is going now, with digiTV being just about all there is just now and they are about to go to N3. If you care to find out about CS then google it, there is no discussion of it allowed on here.

the reason will be is that the older boxes will not be able to handle a n3 card so n3 can not be fully rolled out untill everyone that pays for there service has the new box i would presume

Look you are shafted whatever way you look at it. Your basically receiving more like a cable type service from Chorus, or whatever they call themselves now. They have been losing out for years now, I have friends who have the old boxes and they have not been paying for years, you must know that. I am not that sure what they are trying to prove, because they will not get anyone to pay them for the N3 service, I can't see them lasting much longer. If you want to continue with their cr&py service then you can pay them and all will be well or you can pay Sly for their service, or do as you intend, go to multi satellite, but there is not that much "free" stuff on there now, however some of the cards are cheap and might do you OK.

I can't see you sorting your 500t to a 500s and if you want to go satellite, they your best bet would be to buy a patchable FTA box or go for a Linux box, but they are not cheap, not the genuine ones anyway.

There is no need to keep tying to shove it down my throat that Chorus are going over to N3 and they are a terrestrial service, they are just a micky mouse operation and will soon be out of business, because N3 is not cheap and when they loss customers and when they have to pay for it they will go to the wall. If they were in another country and not had the people silly enough to pay them for rubbish they would be out of it long ago. You have to remember that people here are not that well up on matters of this nature and were prepared to pay for cr&p, but a lot of people now have Sly and are better informed.
