Default Recording Freesat

Hi, my parents have just had freesat installed as they didn't have a very good signal from the aerial so that was removed and a dish fitted. They have a Sony Hdd/dvd freeview recorder and i just wandered if there is a way of connecting this to the freesat and recording one channel and watching another? or do they have to buy a freesat recorder?Currently they can only record what they are watching as they have no signal through an aerial.
Would be grateful for some advice.
Thanks.

Two ways,

1. Buy a Humax HDR, it will record 1 channel on its own HDD and let you watch another, it needs two satellite feeds.

2. Buy another Freesat receiver, then you can watch using that, but you will still need 2 feeds total from your dish.

Yes it will,as both feeds are required in the same room,so both can be connected to the Humax HDR.
Assuming a quad lnb(with 4 outputs) has been fitted.
Then you could replace the existing single core cable with twin(shotgun cable) for the Humax HDR.
Or if the Freesat installation was a connection directly to a Freesat IDTV,rather than to a Freesat receiver.
Then rather than replacing the existing cable, simply add another twin core cable for the Humax HDR.

PS,why is this thread in the trade section?
