Default router advise

Hi all. can anyone recommend a good router for me, just two pc's on wired network at the moment but soon to be a 3rd, using a adsl speedtouch usb modem on main pc. is it best to keep the usb modem and get a router, or get a combined router and modem and bin the usb modem?, or does it make no real difference
so what do you lot use then?? whats the best ones to go for
cheers j

If your buying a router you would need a modem that isnt usb anyway. Unless you plan to plug into one pc direct, then plug in a router after that pc
A Linksys router would be a good choice

Low ID means that the requiered port to your PC's correct IP address is not open.

Open the port via the router.
Make sure its being routed to your PC's IP address.

All should be ok then.

i have a d-link router and have never had any problems.

the_insaan, if what realist suggests doesnt work, go to the start menu, control panel, network and internet connections, network connections, right click on your wireless network and select properties, click on advanced and then settings, click on the exceptions tab and add port. name it emule or whatever and TCP 4662, do it again with UDP 4672. this should enable it to work properly. i did a similar thing when i was getting slow speeds on a couple of p2p programmes and they work fine now. i think 4662 and 4672 are the right ports.

OK, lets get one thing straight, i may have a lot of big talk when it come to electronics, but i drive a bus for a living !!

I do that because it does not require the use of any brain cells at all :ermm:

what you say in that post went right over the top of my head.

@ maverick, i tried your suggestion and it didnt solve it, i know it is a router problem, realist has thw answer, but if only i could decrypt it
