help re tm500 linux

im having a nightmare with this box i cant get it flashed or install anything ive read all the different tutorials but nothing is workin does anyone know where i could send the box away to im willing to pay many thanks

Yes, what method did you use to flash it, the Dreambox control centre on the PC, or the boot web interface on the receiver, or some other method?

got nowhere with it mate just trying to install cccam and an image ive downloaded all the files but when i start the tm loader it says its the wrong image but its the newest one for the tm500 then sometimes it says cant connect my head is battered with it ive plugged the ethernet cable in to the back off the pc and reciver and connected the rs323 cable im totally new to this so if i cant get it sorted im gonna need to send it away the p.c is connected to the internet via wireless would that make a difference

no i used the technomate loader from there website

You don't need to use the serial port, unless you have buggered up your current image. You can use the ethernet connetion. Easiest way to connect that is by cable to your router, then you can connect wirelessly using the PC.

If you have not got a router, then you must connect to the receiver usig an ethernet crossover cable.

You will also need to set the network settings on the box, if you have a router, enable DHCP

Try using the Miniweb interface, I think I used that one first without any trouble at all.

yes i have a router but its downstairs and p.c upstairs using wireless how do i enable DHCP i know how to do it on the reciver but do i need to do anything with the router ? sorry i cant figure this all out

Forget the RS232, you only need that if you have bricked the box.

It sounds like you have got the loader talking to the box. Get a copy of the UR23 image, it is IMHO the best image about. Make sure it is the TM500 version, not the TM600 version. And make sure you are using the TM500/600 loader, the 9100 loader isn't compatiable.

You can find the UR23 image over at digital worldz. Try that and post back with the exact error message you get if it dosen't work.

Take your box to the router, or get a long ethernet cable.

You don't have to do anything on the router.

Sorry got distracted 1/2 way through replying to that, see I got well beaten by Robbo

You want to disable DCHP on the TM and have it take a static IP. For example 192.168.1.15 or whatever fits with your network. Then just enter the IP assigned into the loader. Username : Root Password : leave blank unless you changed it via telnet before hand
