Default ritek problems

hi
what are the chances of buying a spool of 50 white ritek disks, the disks burn 100% but on the completed disk there are circular marks on the burnt disks causing the movie to stall, and pixelate. have tried using a desk top to burn also taken a disk out of the spool at random, and get the same results. lowered the burn rate even altered the encoding time i`ve never encountered this before in eight years - had the occasional disk faulter but never to this degree so far eight disks have encountered same problem ..

any suggestions appreciated

The chances are rare but not impossible.

I would have suggested that your burner is at fault but as you've also tried another that puts that theory to bed.

Have you tried another brand of disk in the writers? It may be worth trying.

Also try contacting Ritek for advice and perhaps return one of the unused disks for them to test.

Best of luck.

Cool Re: ritek problems

One of the biggest issues with DVD burning [or CD for that matter] is the very high burning speeds available on new kit. I swear that despite the disks manufacturers saying the disks are compatible with high speeds I have my doubts that the hardware manufacturer speaks the truth. Old errors used to be buffer underrun errors etc. where the buffers could not keep pace of the data requests from the writer. But there are many reasons for failures and top of my list would be cheap blank DVD and CD.

Not sure if you are aware, but there is a very useful and dedicated site to DVD and CD burning named AfterDawn. Their forums have been invaluable to me in sorting out a whole range of issues over the years.

Haven't been able to post a link [perhaps it's not allowed on this forum ... Oops] but if you search for AfterDawn on Google you'll find it and you won't be disappointed on what they offer. Well, you might be but nothing ventured nothing gained. Hope it's of use

hi
and thanks elton - i am a member of afterdawn had a good look around found a few usefull posts. i only ever burn dvd`s at 8x always stop internet connection, when burning, encode slower than default just to make 100% certain. finally borrowed cppl of different types disks all to no avail - there was a plextor rw which got a decent write up may exchange pioneer
