Default Passion+ - updated wrong firmware

Hello,

I recently purchased a Fortec Star Passion+HD from Maplin. I upgraded to the latest firmware via the front USB port, but I have apparently upgraded to Passion firmware, not Passion+.

As a result, I can't record now. I tried to upgrade back to the Passion+ firmware via the front and back USB ports, but both merely display "USB Error" on the VFD display and the system update prompt says "Fail".

Have I made my box useless as a PVR, or is there a way round this?

I actually thought I may be able to do something with an RS232 upgrade - I can still see the option for that and I don't think that the serial port has been disabled yet. Do you know where I'd find instructions to upgrade by RS232?

There doesn't appear to be any instructions for my model, the Passion+ - would it be safe to use another model's uploader?

Hello,

Well I received the Passion+ RS232 loader from Fortec and tried it out...unfortunately, the box crashes at 60% received and instantly restarts,

I know that upgrade failures are common with these models. I'm still waiting for Fortec to get back on this.

Hi RevivalDBM,
I have done the same error and been trying to find a loader that can be used with the RS232, I have tried emailing them and even called a few times but to say they are not at all bothered about after sales. Please could you guide me as to where can I get the uploader from.

Thanks will be grateful

Try posting your problem on sataid forum as there are many Passion + users involved there.
