30w is the satellite position for HispaSat, which carries the majority of the spanish programming. 24.5w carries some mexican TV. 28e is where the sky UK channels are broadcast from.

Unfortunately the Mexican channels on 24.5W have now gone encrypted, which is a shame, as there was a a few good channels there.

30W is the orbital position of the satellite, i.e 30 degrees west of south.

I think TVE is still on Hotbird.

Best if you check on Flysat.com

FlySat Spain TV Channels

so that you can decide which channels you want, and check which satellites.

As already mentioned, 13E+19E can be got on a single dish with a monoblock.

Thank you both, i feel a bit of a plonker!
National TVE is on hotbird 8, regional are on astra.
So it is possible to get 13 degrees AND 19 degrees on one receiver??
Does that mean I could modify my sky dish to receive from hotbird 8?

Yes it's possible to recieve 13e and 19e on one dish/reciever. Your sky dish will be ok for 13e OR 19e but too small to recieve both at once. You would need atleast a 60cm dish to recieve both.

Your Sky reciever would be no good though, that will only work on 28e properly.

Easiest way to get those two is to whack a 60cm dish up for hotbird, and stick a monoblock on it, to get Astra 19E as well. The receiver would then use its Diseqc 1.0 switching capability to switch between the sats.
