but to be honest anybody getting a new install will get the new card even if you in birmingham as it saves virgin sending new cards out later on to new customers

As the system isn't live in most areas that would be pretty pointless. The customers wouldn't get a TV service !

N1 is still the only system active in most areas.

If your worried about your area then check the systems available using a dbox/dreambox or dvb-c card. If you've got anything else besides system 1800 then your area is being converted.

Are they going to hit all the old cards when they send out the new card, or are you suppose to send it back or dump it?

The old cards will simply cease to work when the old streamdata to support them is switched off.

Get the BK & RSA key now pal from your old box, in case a firmware update makes it unreadable later. Something like this happened in Ireland before.

Ta.

1/ The RSA isn't contained in the N1 card, its a new key.

2/ Only the latest box firmware will have the IRD_N key thats needed to decrypt the DT08 off the N3 card to allow you to get the CAM_N and thus handle the pairing sequence. If your N3 doesn't have a DT08 then you will still need the latest box firmware to extract the box secondary key before you can achieve pairing.
