I've just forgotten:-
I live in the Tayside area & yesterday the Virgin repair guy came to replace my old Pace 4000 box with a new Samsung 2110c. We got talking & he said he did'nt know anything at all about Nagra3 coming out.Didnt even know what it was & he's been working doing faults for over 10 years. He DID mention however, when I said about new cards being issued so they could change everyone over to something new, that they're away to issue everyone a different type of card in the Dundee area very soon-as near as a couple of weeks at the latest. When I asked why I wasn't being issued a new kind, seeing as he was here repairing a fault,he then said-looky here what Ive gotta give you now-A brand new type card-Its got "The new smart smart card" on it. I dont know if this means anything to you guys but just thought I'd mention it anyway. Looks like the END IS NIGH! Another thing-Can I just ask you all outta curiosity? What are all you guys with chipped boxes & modems gonna do when its all on Nagra3? How many are gonna do the unmentionable thing & pay for it? How many people here can afford to pay £79 per month to have all the channels internet & phone that they probably have just now? I know one thing tho,I love my sport & computer that much, that I WILL. If I had to, I would probably payupto £100 per month! AGAIN-IF I HAD TO....!! Last edited by stooge75; 08-01-10 at 04:57 PM. |

I think they have to give the "no idea" response when they are asked. There is no possible way he couldnt be aware of whats going on.
I have also know that they will be rolling out N3 is stages / areas. However, if you have a tech support guy out, they issue the cards as they fix any fault they are out for. This (I believe) will give them info on how the roll out will affect your area. Not sure if this will stop you EV working as the older N2 woud still be in use - Maybe you / some1else could confirm this On the "what will we do with the boxes" part - we will just have to store them to see if a crack comes out and then if they work with existing boxes. People cant really complain though - I am sure most people would have had there moneys worth

Look at the small print on the card - it will likely tell you what it is.
tbh, its doubtful that its a Nag3 card. Engineers dont issue them for repairs. They are always sent out in batches via post. As for Dundee being next, possible but unlikely. Other areas seem to be at a much more advanced conversion stage so I'd guess they are more likely to be next. |

i suppose it'll come down to "supply & demand" eh
They (VM) supply it & then, demand the cash for it! At the end of the day,£3.00 per day, approx, aint that bad for all the channels they have,ie discovery,Nat Geo,sky sports ESPN etc. when there's enough money in it for the hackers, then personally,i think thats when we'll see the issue of N3 hacking solved. But your theory that there will be a hack from someone in Britain, is so far off the mark it is off the scale. If the sat boys in Spain, Portugal and Poland can't hack it, and they have been at it for over 2 years now, then the chances of it being hacked for/by those from the cable side of things are remote in the extreme. Sorry but there is very little likelihood of a hack for N3, we in the sat section have been waiting for one for 2 1/2 years now and there is no sign of it, it would be great to have one, we would get back all the hundreds of channels we lost, and that includes Sly Germany, which is twin encrypted in N3 and NDS, they went to N3 when they were known as Premier, but Murdock, with the blessing of the German government, took them over and then insisted that Sly De be encrypted in NDS also, he could not get rid of N3, because Premier had signed a contract. nice-someone knows their stuff. what do think everyone'll do,regarding watchin chipped cable tv,and internet thru chipped modems. i heard someone say that they wont find a ahck for years but might find a way thru it cos of the way virgin will impliment it.
think it'd be interesting if they somehow managed to encrypt it so they knew exactly who was watching without payin for it.oh how we'd laugh. well-the one's that pay for it anyway!haha Last edited by stooge75; 08-01-10 at 08:10 PM. |
