Unhappy Newbie - Virgin Media Activation Page

Hi, I purchased a cable modem of Ebay. I've reset to factory settings and inserted the frequency and mac (which I got from a mate from north london, i'm from east). Everytime I try connecting, The status is operational although I keep getting directed to a Virgin Media Activation page.

This happens with my mates mac (his own one) which is active, and other macs he sniffed for me. Could someone please help me out? I've worked at it for days with no luck.

Possibly a settings problem? I'm from an Ex C&W area.

when you get activation page it means you need to try different macs.

Yes, the MAC you are using is invalid although you would still be able to sniff for more MACs using the "Activation Page" one. Just input it into DHCP Sniffer and press Discover but DON'T select the bruteforce option.

And that would definitely work? Even if I do it from my house using my mates mac which gives me the activation page?

It would work yes as it is still making some form of connection to VM for it to be displaying that page.

Guys, I tried and got quite a few macs. But their either not working at all (not giving me VM activation page) or its giving me the activation page. Any chance you guys could help me out further via pm or msn or something? Would be very very grateful!
