i use a toshiba satellite L300 £290 for every day use which is ok but as recent as thursday of last week, had to change dvd rw, work wise i use a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 which is pretty much perfect at just over £1,000 and its durable had a slight problem with wifi when 1st purchased it - but a simple call to the supplier and within 5 mins had lenovo up and running .customer support was informative and helpfull .. i`m sure people will have many opinions on what laptop to purchace, its more to do with reliability and customer service, which swayed myself

If your looking for a quality laptop , i would suggest you give mac's a try , security is really good , only 3 virus's that can affect it.

They never freeze or crash and everything they have is fast and stable .

Just a suggestion , the macbook air is around £800 and is worth every penny.

You can't really select a "best" laptop. You can decide what you want to use it for and then pick a laptop based on what you require. E.g. a Dell XPS for gaming or a Dell Inspiron for everyday use such as the internet, Facebook, instant messaging etc.
