Default Starview HD combo

Hi,

I am about to buy this starview HD combo and would appreciate if anyone can tell me if it works ok under NTL and if it can be updated easily and will show all the channels including HD channels?

Many thanks

N3 is Nagra 3....currently being implemented by virgin media...its a new kind of encryption...currently effective up north, bradford, leeds side i think....will hit us all by easter, so i hear....so you can say goodbye to free cable tv....look on the bright side..i have the satrview hd combo...you can always use the sat side of the box..

so will the starview boxes stop working when this n3 is inplemented? or till the hackers get round it? also these boxes is it just a matter of getting a box then downloading the correct firmware to it?

The starview like all other boxes will not open N3 or similar encrypted channel with a Patch. If/when we get N3 or something similar (Nothing is confirmed) the box will not open the channels with a patch.

This box does have an Ethernet port and is Card-share ready, you can connect to a card-share server and currently open Sky satellite and I suspect that if/when the rest of the cable network changes encryption, then it may be possible to open the cable channel with card-share.

Nothing can be confirmed until the new Encryption does spread, could be days, weeks, Months or even Years.

I can confirm that the box does support C/S on the cable side as well as Satellite. I have seen one used with a N1 C/S.
