No stupidly I updated it to 4.6 and assumed it would be ok. Still we learn by our mistakes.

I'll try reflashing it as well.

Some of the other lads will confirm, but I think that the timebomb image was the 4.3 versoin, but do no harm to reflash the box if you can, it only takes about 20/25 mins to do.

Smile Re: DM500 Power issues

She lives! I took the box home last night and tried it with the original power supply, nothing, green light still fading slowly. I tried it with the replacement I found, no humming on connector, screen still distorted but not rolling and could see a lot more, remote still not working though. In desperation I decided to try the power supply from my DM800 and it worked. Not sure what has happened, all channels and satellites are still there but all other settings appear to have gone for a burton. Had to reset all the networking and display settings. Other than that, it is working fine. Looks like I need to purchase a new power adapter and a USB to serial adapter to flash it.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi mate if you are using Vista or Win 7 you might need to get the right driver from the net, I had to for my old laptop running Vista. I do not use it now as I have not got my 500s, a friend has it. When getting the adapter, go for one with the right drivers, ask the guy and if it has not then he is at fault for saying it had and you can always take it back. You need to flash a new/different image to the box, I used to use Pli images, they are stable and look good too, but everyone has their own favorite one, bit of a personal choice.

If you have the channels set up as you like them you should use DreamboxEdit and save your channels list, when you put the new image on the box all you need do is use it again and upload the settings list to the new image.
