i have been looking at and reading loads about modding the webstar 2100 cable modem and i think i know exactly how to do it and everything ,
my question is what does it actually do does it uncap the speed or the download limit? or what also is the max 232 board / chip the same chip as a jtag for the starview box? thanks |

Modifying the modem allows you to get a faster internet connection..... for free! No, the MAX232 is something totally different mate, you will find some on eBay

Yes, you will need a new MAC address if you wish to get online after it has been modded. There are many tutorials and guides around to help you, just do some searching

i jtag them myself, but as a newbie i think you will be better off the max232 method cos if u jtag it u will need to solder a pin header onto it.
but look at ur modem 1st cos ive noticed on some of the newer 2100's where the max232 plugs in, it has been removed and just had the holes filled in just like the jtag slot |
