ps3 flashing red light

help my ps3 has just died, the red light just keeps flashing, its the 60gb model and sony wants 160 to replace it, does anyone know what the problem is

flashing red light means its a hardware problem unlike the YLOD

if u wanna sell it, my house mate buys them with the RLOD for no more then £50 mate as thats the price on ebay for them

its common on the 60gbs ones, it could be the card reader , ( which we see a lot )

I dont want to sell it I want to fix it, Ive looked on youtube it seems to be a common problem but no vids on how to fix it, guess I will have to pay the 160

sony taking the p £160 for repair id rather buy a new one.

true but I have the 40 gig model also, but I would like to keep the 60gb as they were the first ones out, i even still have the box and manuel !

contacted playstation again by email and told them there was a disk still in side and asked if there was a way of getting it out, they told me to turn it off by the switch at the back then hold my finger on the eject button and flick the switch back on, the game should eject, if it does'nt then its a power supply fault.

I'm sure you could find a cheap PSU on eBay?

I have just finished repairing my PS3 its working perfect i didnt even have to reformat the HD, Thanks to a guy called... gilsk1

well glad to hear u fixed man but why sony was askin for money, was it out of the warranty?
