Hi, i am a noob to all this.
I have just signed up with Virgin media cable tv, and was wondering which is the best box for the job. It should have a HDD and be HD. Only thing i have picked up so far is that i should purchase from Lincsat. |

I'd go for the EX7000HD, DW800 or a modded V+. I don't see the point in buying a new box now though as N3 is kicking in pretty soon (if it hasn't already in your area).

Thanks for a speedy reply. I am currently looking at the Eurovox EX700 HD+ but wasnt sure if it has a HDD. Could you direct me to website with more info on the other two you mentioned please? Also dont know what you mean by N3..but my postcode does say i could have the full features Virgin Media provide..? Is there a tutorial you could also direct me to where it describes how to firmware upgarde and other useful manuals/user guides i will need. i find forums very confusing lol. sorry and thanks in advance!!

Ah i see that the DW800 is a Kryptview box..still not sure about the modded V+ one. Could i mod the box they give me, or would that be too risky as it remains their property..

You will have to ask around as I cannot give a definative answer to that mate. Yes but only IF a Nagra 3 fix becomes public (which I very much doubt anytime soon, if at all).

Nagra 3 will affect any box that is not paid for (although you will still get FTA). I'm not sure really, when all the premium channels go off I suppose but then that could just be a card that's expired.
