There's this idea to start an online drama series written and run entirely by the public, and not even owned by any company. It's a bit weird, but if you want to find out more, then check out the Populus Project site

I think they need people to get it started

not open source, but have you ever checked out the wire? classic just started watching it after a lot of recommendations.
