Well, they all do the same thing, but boxes(I suppose you mean Eurovox, Starview etc...) are just a heck of a lot easier to modify. I have a linux receiver, which is a little harder to modify however it pays off(literally and metaphorically)

Original cable company boxes sell for about £45 at their cheapest, however Ive now also seen Eurovoc's etc... going for that much, so in terms of money and if your a newbie Id get a Eurovox. You MAY get your money's worth and you MAY not
