Default Eurovox 5100 pvr no or bad signal

Hi,

I don't know too much about my box as I had a relative get me one and set it up.

Recently this past week certain channels have stopped working. All i get is a bad or no signal. I'm not sure where I can check the signal strength either.

Today i've discovered that pretty much all the terrestrial channels apart from five are giving me the same bad or no signal screen. It''s also spreading to certain sky movie channels as well, but Sky sports 1 seems ok.

Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to do to get it back to working the way it used to? I was thinking of doing a deep scan or fast install but a friend of mine did that too his and ended up with a box that kept freezing.

I'm from Derby and the box is a eurovox 5100 pvr the supplier used to be ntl/virgin, but I switched over to sky a long time ago and I am just using the old ariel box which the cable box plugged into.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be brilliant.

Since you do not have a cable subscription its quite possible that the incoming cable feed is not in the best condition ...thats the problem when you are taking for free, you have to take the chance that the incoming feed is in good working order and you have no way of proving that since you don't subscribe to cable ...

factory reset the box, then rescan, frequency changes so you will not pick them up unless you factory reset first.

Thanks for your advice and help guys.

A friend told me to try a powerscan and I've managed to get all the channels back again.
