Default Re: HD receiver for upto £250

1.
I think i'll go for tm 6900 as i don't need cam for it, but i'm confused with dvbs and dvbt. As far as i know it stands for digital satellite and digital terrestrial respectively. Freesat is available an astra 2d so i don't need dvb t tuner to receive it, right? I think i can get freesat just by offset sugested by Robo.
Am i missing something? Please clarify.
2.
Since this receiver has 2 satellite tuners, do i still need twin lnb to watch one channel and at the same time record another one?
3.
If so, i guess i need monoblok twin (or two seperate twins and the holder) for another satellite (hb 13e). how it would work with my 60 cm dish.

Thanks for your help

Its only got one satellite tuner and one terrestrial (Freeview) tuner, and you cannot record satellite and then watch freeview, only switch between the two so you can only record the channel you are watching.

You will really need a min of an 80cm dish to get both Hotbird and Astra 2 on a single dish using two single LNB's connected to the receiver with a 2 in 1 DiSEqC switch - A Monoblock is not available as one is not made.

Some guys have been getting 13E+28E on a 60cm.

I have had it working reasonably well on the tiny Orbital Platinum.

But i should be able to watch one satellite channel and record another from the same satellite. In order to do so do i need a twin lnb or single. Or this is not possible at all. From what i read it can be done providing i run two cables from twin lnb to the receiver.

No as its only got a single tuner, you can record one channel and watch another if its on the same transponder but if not you will need a twin satellite tuner receiver

I'm waiting for tm to be delivered. I have additional questions guys though, hoping you could help.

1. having two lnbs (hotbird and astra 2d) do i need to run two cables down to my receiver or I will do with one coaxial and disecqc connected to lnbs. think the latter but not sure.

2. There are hundreds of lnbs on the market. What do you recommend for around 20m length for hd picture.

3. Is rg6 cable good enough for this length or should i get wc100/wf100 coaxial.

If going to a single tuner, and you only want to watch one satellite at a time, yes you would use a Diseqc switch.

LNB choice, really isn't critical at all for those two sats, there is no such thing as an LNB for HD.

Yes RG6 would probably be good enough, personally still wouldn't use it though, cheap and nasty.

Oh sounds like £235 for a TM6900 that I offered when asked delivered was too much? Would be interested to know as always looking to improve our service when we have great prices already. Thanks
