Default HD receiver for upto £250

Hello everyone,
I recently upgraded my Polish tv CYFRA+ to HD and am looking for a HD receiver. My budget is tight and I can't go over 250 quid. After three days of google'ing and searching I thought that the top choice would be Technomate TM 6900 I found for £230. I have a few questions though.

1. Are any of the following receivers better in picure quality than TM
a. AB IPBox 91 for around £180
b. globo opticum 9500 for around £190
c. topfield tf400 for around £240
d. mvision 200hd for around 150 graded though but with warranty

2. What receiver other than that would you recommend and shortly why.

3 Dish is 60 cm and is pointed at Hotbird 13E. Can I get ANY freesat channels from there or do I have to get another lnb and point to astra2. I think this is a stupid question and I will have to get another lnb but not sure. That's why forums like this exist, right?

Any help much appreciated.

Hi,

No, you can't get Freesat channels from Hotbird.

You need a dish/LNB arrangement to pick up from 28E.

You 'may' be able to add an offset LNB to pick up 28E from your existing dish. But the far easier way to do it, if you are not bothered about 2 dishes is to get a sky minidish and use that.

Receiver wise I would suggest you speak to Ian at Southern satellite, he did have some TM6800HD, that should do what you want, or maybe something else, maybe an Icecrypt.

I take it that you have a suitable CAM for your Cyfra+ card?

Hi Robbo,
thanks for a quick reply.
Getting a second dish is not an option, I had both, my neighbour and my landlord moaning about the first one I may try with an offset than.
What CAM you are talking about.
I spoke to Cyfra+ customer service guy and as far as i remember he said I can use every receiver. Can't i just put my viewing card into any TM 6 series to watch it?
And if not, how to make/get one? Do i obtain it from my tv provider? Are they available in UK? Thanks

Yes, try the offset then.

I don't know what CAM you need. It may work straight in the receiver, I don't know, possibly.

If you've upgraded your Cyfra+ subscription to the HD package.
Why have you not opted for the official HD reciever or pvr, offered by Cyfra+?
Surely that would have been easier and possibly cheaper.
Cyfra+ seems to use multiple encryption, from what I can make out,and no doubt the appropriate CAM(Conax/SECA3),will be an additional cost.

I upgraded over the phone and they do not post receivers. I pay less then before and got HD for free so it was hard to resist. I have to collect the receiver in person though. The earliest I could possibly be in Poland is April and i'm not willing to wait so long. I spoke to cyfra but they seem to be even more clueless than me, i will "probably" need cam, and the only one mentioned was aston. But, from what I read on the net, this Cam's not really good for hd.
Thanks for your opinion SAT-WORLD.

Hi m8 best for this is Azbox ATM(Are any of the following receivers better in picure quality than TM)
Format resolution is what your looking for. Most give this on Format resolution 1080i, 720p, 576i.Azbox will give you 576i (480i), 576p (480p), 720p, 1080i, and 1080p.Please let me know if you can beat this with another satellite receiver for the money.

Hi Billet,

I cannot reply to you via pm because i have not enough posts.

No I haven't yet. still looking. The more I read the more confused i am to be honest. i am a newbie and all this cams, cis and others are too much at the moment.

Can you tell me more about it, i mean does it have terrestrial tuner? how long have you had it, is still on some warranty, etc. Does it have universal card reader so i don't have to buy a cam.

I read reviews of your receiver, looking great. Why are you selling it and what's the condition.

According to the Cyfra+ website,it appears the CAM,you'll need is a Mediguard 3 CAM(also known as SECA3):CYFRA+ | FORMAT OBRAZU HD

Yes it is a fantastic receiver, to keep the thread on topic I will edit my original post in the for sale section on this forum.
