flash 250

Whats the easiest way to flash a 250, i have the max232. But i know softjtag can be temperamental in vista,

Only way if you dont have the P option

on softjtag i connect but everything else is greyed out then i get a timed out error.

shall have a search about see what i can find

please follow this as it worked like 7times for me then it in fact it finaly flashed the bootloader..

DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR MODEM FROM THE POWER SUPPLY WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!! OR ITS BRICKED! - THEN YOU WILL NEED TO PROGRAM THE TOP CHIP..

1: if you get a error message saying that SoftJTAG has timed out click
"CONTINUE"

2: Now at the bottom of SoftJTAG there is a button called "DISCONNECT" press this

3: Close SoftJTAG

4: Next download or if you have open "Ambit config tool 096"

5: Just click the button "FLASH BOOTLOADER" you will get a error message thats fine

6: Click ok on error message now close "Ambit config tool 096"

7: Now open SoftJTAG i used V3.01

8: connect to your modem like you did before and then flash the bootloader again if you get the timed error message then repeat the steps above!!

9: I also used the bootloader.bin for the 250/255

Followed this, but when writing i got the error again, so i tryed the steps again like said and now when i go to write bootloader i get...

ERROR: Unable to open the flash driver.
You need to reboot the modem.

If i reboot will it not brick it??

thats more than likely a brick now mate. you might be lucky but i dont fancy your chances.

i did have softjtag working at one point and was really easy but now i just pull the flash chips of and prog them in the willem

Chip off time but you had no choice no other way to change the bootloader

Vista dont go with anything m8 maybe worst OS ever by M$ apart from maybe ME, I work with computers so was wise enough to stick with XP but....... About 3 month ago installed windows 7 ultimate and never looked back. I am amazed short of NT M$ have made a half decent OS, emulation mode is not bad most old programs work fine via compatibility mode inc files used here... Update BIE version needs no messing with.. Im sure your with me
