Default Re: Protek Unix 500 Receiver

Hi,
been made aware of this box this evening so doing a bit of reading.
never owned a box like this before so please bear with me if i ask anything stupid.
one thing i asked was if there was a minimum speed your internet had to be? does anyone know this?
my internet sub only allows 10gig download a month. will i need to increase this?
is the protek server free or is there a charge for it?
the reason this was recommended to me is because of being a complete newbie. i was told plug it in, switch it on, and you'll open up loads of channels! is it really that easy??
any help/advice appreciated.

Ian,

another new kid on the block here.

1.
I currently have a sky minidish pointing unobstructed to
the sky signal. would i be able to run this unix 500 box
though the dish or does it need a larger dish with a motor.

2.
do you need it to be connected to the dish if its going to
be connected to a server

3.
has the server got things like 3pm footy

many thanks

tim

To get the best of this box you would need a motorised dish , I would doubt it would open anything on 28.2e,
if youv'e not got motorised you would be better of with an ordinary
dm500s

So basically this is a dream500 clone or similar that runs standard enigma1 images and can run cccam just like the £40 clones it also can connect to a reserved server. What protocol does it use to connect to the protek server ? Wow at £140 it doesnt sound so much good value unless there is more ?

How much ram do they have ?

Always one! Well with a clone DM you don't get free access to a server do you? So with this in mind it represents excellent value, maybe next time research the product before making a craske comment.

PS: Great first post! NOT
