It really depends what your wanting to watch and how much your willing to spend. If your just using your Sky dish a new reciever wont get you any more channels.

If you wanted to get a motorised dish there is alot up there for you to point a dish at and watch.

What EXACTLY are you wanting?? As none of us is a mind reader we need more info - UK or foreign telly, are the pay channels important or are you only interested in the free stuff, do you need a full epg, do you want sport and movies

Etc etc.

You still arent giving us much to work with, but to be honest your best bet is probably going to be pay for Sky!

You can get sports on foreign pay tv services, but they end to be at least as expensive as the Sky UK service.

If you want to see the free stuff thats out there (not much in English) then you can do it cheaply

Then you will need to subscribe if you want sport, unless you get a motorised system and receive the last months of Digi TV on Thor and watch some sport with a software patch but as I said this will soon be disappearing once they change to N3 encryption. Subs start from £300 and go up to £1300 a year.

Well you will probably looking at a subscription of one type or another especially for football.

Have a look here *** L.J.s LIVE Sport on Satellite TV. Live Soccer on TV. Live Football on Saetllite TV. and decide who shows the most of what you want to watch. I'd ignore anything from 7w, as it requires a seriously big dish in most of the UK. You can take it from there then.

Yes - either start simple with a static dish and a cheap receiver and point it at Hotbird, or Astra 1 and you will get a shed load of weird and wonderful channels from all around the world.

Or go a bit more complicated and motorise from the start to give you access to multiple satellites

You MUST however realise that there is very little English stuff around free, and if you want a decent amount of sport you will be paying dearly - the best pay services for 3pm football are getting on for a thousand quid a year!

There is plenty of free fotball around - Ive seen some great African games in recent months, but no free Premiership.
