Default Streaming to and from dm800 on nabilo

been trying for past two days to get this sorted with no avail.

threads here are somewhat outdated and not in particular ref to the dm800.

i've got vlc on the pc and i can use modzilla to stream from the dm to a local pc, in hd too. its quite impressive and handy if you want to watch two channels at the same time. (has to be same transponder)

problem is i can stream on the lan but not over wan.

not sure if it's because of the vpn connection or not.

the advice im looking for with this one is presumably, if im outside my lan i can put one of my ips in the browser and a port which is forwarded to my dm to get the webgui of the dm.... which port and how do i go about finding out?

i can control the dm from outside with regards to changing channel and remote recording but cant watch the damn thing.

the other thing is the streaming video files to the dm (not over wan, just locally)... i've followed various tuts here and elsewhere and have got to the point where i can see the files on the pc via vlc on the dm and select one to play. its at this point it crashes.

i suppose the easy way would be to convert them to a .ts and up them to the hdd on the dm but i dont really want to have to do that.

this is accedemic as i actually have a kiss 1600 which the dm is sat on top of but i would like to know how to do it for others.

knowing how to do it on the dm500 would be really handy too, again, with nabilo.

thanks for any advice in advance.

It should work with any box mate, I have it working with my 7025, which is E2, the same as the 800. I once had my box streaming with it, the laptop used Windows Media Player, but it is not as good, with VLC you can change the audio stream, if there is more than one. Go here for download _http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Regards Wez
