Hello Everyone, nice forum, straight-2-the point stuff. I am a PC expert and possess experience and knowledge in everything to do with PC hardware, updating mobo bios, DVD drive firmware, GPU Bios etc. I hope to contribute much towards this forum as it’s nice and not overcrowded.
My SATELLITE story starts about 10 years ago when I got a motorized dish with 1 LNB that moves to any satellite in range mounted on my roof. The receiver was a PACE model, matched with a 2nd identically-shaped PACE unit, dedicated to moving the dish (both had card slots). Meaning that channel 1 on the receiver could be on Astra, then channel 2 would delay as the 2nd PACE unit below moves the dish and counts through it's 4-digit led until it reaches its next destination on, say, Hotbird. Do you get what type of set-up I mean?? Then a couple of years ago I got rid of both pace units, and had a TECHNOMATE 5500 receiver installed (I don’t think it's totally digital!). This receiver has the ability to control the dish movements to whatever satellite the required channel is on (so it has an integrated motorized dish controller, with motorized dish inputs, right?). You can test my knowledge on any PC hardware, but this is as detailed as I can be with my satellite set-up. I have been looking to buy a new receiver and the Technomate 1500ci stands out to me, best found for £110. I understand that the on-board software can be updated/patched on receivers like these with null cables. I also see some receivers which have PCMCIA slots, but not so with the TM 1500ci. These PCMCIA devices to be used with satellite receivers are called CAMS? Don’t these cams de-scramble a certain group of channels? I thought scrambled satellite channels would be in charge of marketing and selling subscriptions! I would like to know how this all fits into place, and if anyone is going to reply to this, I don’t mind if you get technical. I know my motorized dish setup on my roof is over 10 years old, but it does do its job, so I want to make sure my next choice of receiver can be used with my dish. TM 1500ci still best choice? Thanks for reading. New Bill G. ![]() |

hi mate,
the technomate 1500 is a good receiver with plenty of support with patches, and there are plenty of users who can help with any problems you have with this receiver. as for cams, patching saves you the cost of buying them, the patch will open everything the dragon cam will. this receiver will be a direct change over for your other tm box. as for patches and files to open the channels, by being on a forum you get these free to test. all members help each other and dont ask anything in return we all share our knowledge with everyone. so enjoy the forum and try the tm 1500 first with patches then you will get further into this hobby, beware it take's over. -------------------------------------------------------------------- and you can keep the other receiver and link it to the tm1500 like a lot of others do,and use it for testing cards/cams etc: if you wish to get a cam the dragon is the only one i would recommend and with a dragom loader card f84a, a dynamite programmer this is the easiest and cheapest way to programme the cam, if your a s*y user you can put your official s*y card in this cam and use your tm to view s*y channels,[ this is not a hack, you have to have a official sub card] the dragon cam can be used with a cerbro card to view chns: on 19e and 23e and you can programme the cerbro card with the dynamite programmer. |

your LNB may not cover the full frequency range and need updating to a Universal LNBF. I'm not familiar with the Technomate tm1500ci, you will need to check it has a 36v positioner and not just a diseq positioner to be compatible with your dish. The Manhattan Plaza ST550 is compatible with your dish, but the accuracy of the positioner is reported to be not great - http://www.manhattan-receivers.com/m...icle.php?id=17

Hi there, do go for the Technomate 1500ci it's a very good receiver at a very good price. I have a TM 1500ci super paired with a Superjack ll positioner using the receivers DiSeqc 1.2 settings. This has resurected my old 80cm dish, 1.2 uni lnb (very old, about 18 years) and jaeger h-h motor. Thanks to all the help and advice from this forum, the patches and a long self made null modem cable, I have now breathed new life in to an forgotten entertainment stream; but beware your life will never be the same again! You'll soon be searching for more satellites and channels, trying to improve reception of what you have, longing to upgrade this and that piece of equipment (I have gone from under 200 analogue channels to the ability to view upto 5000) and as always getting loads of advice from this forum. Good luck.

Hello, sorry i been away for a while. Thank you so much for your valuable replies, I actually bought a TM 1500ci super which works fine. But has no inputs for my motorised dish. Maybe I forgot to mention above that my original receiver is a TM 5500 DAPCI. I have made a new post called "1500ci/5500 DAPCI with any satellite, any channel", because now I am so much more clued up about this stuff. See u in my other threat then...

hi, you say your receiver has no input for your motorised dish, the tm 1500 has a diseqc motor facility it moves the dish via the lnb cable. if you have a 36v motor on your dish [ four wires to the motor] you will need a v-box to allow your tm to move the dish. |

Clipper, thanx so much, im gonna search for one. I feel like a nob for not finding that out. Can I ask whether its a device that has lnb-to-receiver plus those 4 wires going in one end, and lnb-wire-to-receiver coming out the other end?
