Hi there,
I've done some digging around on this issue already and it seems to be quite a common problem - however the symptoms i'm seeing are a little different to those i've seen elsewhere so i'm hoping some kind soul on here might be able to give me a few points. I was passed a Pace DI4001N which was showing the PAT message. Having read around a little I followed one of the recommendations which was to pull the Red Jumper. I've done this and now the box just goes from PACE to TUNE and then sticks there. It doesn't seem to matter what buttons I hold down at bootup it does exactly the same - and there's no display on screen either. Is the box totally dead? Suggestions and/or comments would be appreciated. ![]() Cheers Pete |

Sounds like a signal issue. These boxes are prone to signal problems. Try connecting the box direct to the feed no splitters and as close to the outside line as possible and see if it works. If not it may need a new tuner.

Thanks - i'll give that a go.
Is it possible to obtain tuners for these boxes? If so then could you point me in the right direction. Otherwise i'm guessing i'd need to find another Pace box with a different issue so it could act as a 'donor'. Have to admit that i'm not that familiar with the innards of these boxes so i'll have to have a dig around for a schematic. |

I've got the box stripped down but i'm struggling to find PL5.
There's a large silver component which has the coax connector on it and then two smaller silver boxes which then join onto this. I'm assuming the tuner is most likely one of these smaller boxes? But none of the board labels nearby read PL5. Can you give me any pointers please? I'd be quite interested to know more about the layout of these boards if anyone has any more details. |

Think i've found it - it's actually inside the tuning unit yeah?
PL5 is the solder pad which holds the threaded coaxial connector to the PCB. I'll give that a go, although on first inspection it looks ok. Worth a shot though. Cheers |

It may look OK but the joint itself may be dry hence why I suggested re-flowing it so that you can make sure there is a good connection between the leg and the pad.
