Question Eurovox

Hello,

I'm interested in buying a genuine EX1000SL after saving up! But can anyone tell me if I'm 'eligible' by reading the info below:

I have Virgin Media Broadband (M), TV (M), Virgin Landline (L).

I need the box to use in East London, Walthamstow.
The broadband is going through a VM modem which connects to a VM wireless router.

1. What is the current status of Eurovox EX1000SL method? everything working fine?
2. If I use Eurovox will I still be able to use the landline and internet?
3. Do I need to cancel Virgin TV? (to save money!)
4. What settings would I need, I have seen stuff like symbol rate, baud mentioned?
5. Will I be able to use the TV on Demand interactive services like on the VM box?
6. Can I easily switch between the Eurovox box and VM box?

Thanks.

Hi,

I'll try and answer your questions as best I can for you, but I reccomend you do a search for "N3". Basically, in a matter of months, your Eurovox (and everyone elses) will become useless because of a new encryption system being put in place.

1. Currently everything is fine, but see above, it won't be fine for very long.
2. Yes
3. You don't need to, it's better to keep a minimum package going, and it's usually free for the most basic package anyway when you have phone and broadband.
4. I wouldn't worry about that yet.
5. No.
6. As easy as unplugging one and plugging in the other (or using a splitter and having them both running).

Hope this helps,

PC

@ PerryCox

I have read the thread by waqasahmed about 3.7/N3, can't link to it because of not enough posts!

lincsat says there that there will be a new firmware to tackle the encryption if I've understood it correctly. Is this what you believe also?
