Default Er 09 on 2110

It starts out as being dead, appart from the red standby light being on (which @ first led me 2 believe that it was the usual caps in the p/supply..it wasnt) so, I've changed the exact same p/supply over (I had 1 which I knew was working ok) to no avail.
After A while of fault finding/measuring voltages, It suddenly displayed ER:09, aftera cold reset, which I havn't found an eplanation 4 ANYWHERE thru all the fault codes I could lay my hands on anyway!
Has anyone came accross this, or does anyone know what this code meens??
ANY help is as usual greately appreciated.

Regards, Beatbox

i've seen this a few times. i recon that theres a buld up of charge on the board.

have had them spring into life when i've plugged them in the socket with the socket off and help the power button down. also, when the case of the box is earthed by some means. the build up of charge or whatever it is seems to leak away

What would u advice then m8...
After the initial switch on, it will stay red (standby light) until its switched off. ?Then If u leave it on 4 about 1 hour, and then switch it off, you get the ER:09 msg on the display, and it wont dissapear, no matter wot i do.
It jumps from LD04 to ER09 in a split second when it does goto error 9...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
P.S I have tried to get into the EM, but it wont go past the error msg, and I've also tried a reset to no avail..
PLZ help!!!

Standby light on red is usually caused by regulator U1001 being faulty. It is near the caps where the psu connector is on the mainboard.

I've only had Err 09 once before and was cured by replacing regulator U1601. You can find this on the edge of the mainboard alongside the tuner.

Tried both of the regulators u suggested m8, but its still faulty...
I measured the voltages on the doner board B4 I changed over the reg's and they were the same as the faulty boards, but changed them anyways just incase.
Is there anything else we could try?

Bit of a tough one Beatbox, as I said, have only come across err 09 once and replacing the reg sorted it. Worked for someone else afterwards so hoped it could be a "stock" fault.

Interesting that you have the stuck in standby which clears after an hour. Makes you think it could be a dry cap somewhere, perhaps part of the U1001 circuit. With it displaying 2 fault symptoms I would be inclined to think that they share a common denominator.

The only ones I can think of are the psu, which I imagine you have already ruled out, and the surface mount electrolytics alongside the mainboard power connector.

@ chookey... yup the p/s was the first port of call..... and the one out the faulty box, powered up another main pcb no problems at all, and the p/supply out that one STILL gave me the fault on our original box... Red s/bye light for about 1 hour, then after a cold restart, LDo4 for a split second then ER:09...
I have followed the regulators supplies from the p/supply, 2 see if one was being dragged down after a while, but they are all ok...
Im at a total loss ere bro...
If i get any result (im not 1 4 giving up on a challenge, and since these receivers cant be hacked, then its the only 1 left really for me!!lol) I will post back..
And if you have any other ideas, then plz, post too..
Regards, Beatbox
