The starview HD combo+ can connect to a C/S server, but there is no UK Cable C/S server that I know of. There is talk of them being shipped with bundled access to the Irish server in the future and the RRP going up by around £40

Ah, then I guess the plan will be to charge this on a per year basis. I didn't really see how it could function as a perpetual freebie. As I said, somebody eventually has to be paying for the subs.

I suppose £40 for a year sounds like decent value so now it just depends on what the service is like functionally and how long UPC allow it to exist.

Alot of ppl are having concerns about the stability of server for SV 6
I think the server will be quite strong and will have all the TPs working in SV 6 for Ireland as i have seen the test box and its amazing with no glitching or breaking...

CS only works effectively in small groups, with people you trust and on a non commercial basis.. preferably using a non virgin BB connection or at least a VPN..

if your name or IP is discovered on a commercial server its a big risk... better to club together with some friends and share a legit sub than pay money to someone you dont know properly and run the risk of arrest..

better still, get multiroom and give your family/mates a box.. it will work if you are in (roughly) the same area.. if anyone tells you otherwise just check it out for yourself using your own box first..

think about it £65 per month full subs with movies and sport for one person
£10 each per month for additional HD box (plus one off cost of box)

you can share between 4 of you for less than £24* a month each, its not illegal (against TOS not the law(possibly a grey area)) and it will be an uninterrupted legitimate service... the only risk is that your mates order PPV on your account or you invite an engineer into your house for some tea and tell him about the missing boxes

*£65 a month sub x 12 = £780pa
£10 per box * 3 * 12 = £360pa
= £1140pa / 4 = £285 per person per year = £23.75 per person per month

Yes these box's are working in Irl, how long for ?, traders are selling them for €250, I would'nt join a public c/s server justn in case someone traces my ip addy(upc), a private c/s would be the way to go but how to pair the card with the server box without the rsa key is the problem or so I am told.

yes coder the ones ive been offered a ride on are £150 per annum
or £12.50 per month which includes all (sly)hd channels.40 quid would be a fooking bargain and id be all over it like a cheap suit.
am i right in thinking you need a rock solid bb connex tho to stop pixelation/dropouts?and the more bandwidth the better right?
how bandwidth hungry are these things anyway?

also, how are the server owners going to stop cloning of server cs's?
in other words,if i got a sub and shared the key with my mates and split the bill?....

just a few q's prob in wrong area or against rules.if so modders do you r thang
good weekend all.

It obviously needs to be fairly reliable as you only get TV when your actually connected to the cardserver.

Not very hungry at all tbh !

If done correctly, a client will only transfer about 200 bytes every 8 secs or so. (That equates to a 25 baud modem ) so you could easily work with just about anything available today, even dialup !

The main factor you need to consider is probably the reliability of the link. If its constantly falling over then so will your TV.

Two obvious reasons -

1/ The server will only give you the cw for one channel at once so you could only share that one channel at any one time.

2/ Encryption -The cw's from the server will likely be encrypted with the decryption keys buried either in the dongle or the stb firmware itself.
