Thats Great! I've been looking around and show sports seems the best for PL
I watch sky sports quite a bit,
If I were to get rid of sly, would it be possible to:

1) Pick up most of the sky entertainment channels for free? For example, if i was to get the equipment and a motorised dish... when i want sports i piont it at (e.g show sports), when i want entertainment, i point it at the regular sky satellite?

2) Use the old sky box as a reciever for show sports (i.e could i put a show sports card into the old sky box) or does this not work and would i have to pay for a new box.

Basically, I want to keep the sly entertainment package, but would like to use show sports to watch sports because it shows multiple live 3pm PL games. What do you suggest as the best solution, Thanks for your help, EFC-STH

Unfortunately, Showsports, although perfectly feasible in many situations and locations, requires a 'big ole' dish. To get fairly reliably a 1.8m or therabouts in the south, and maybe a 2.4m a bit further up. But up t'north, an unrealistic dish size would be needed.

Showsports are on a horizontal tranponder on Nilesat 7W.

Having said that, the Showsports package is one of the much more reasonably priced footy subs in the UK, but the dish would cost you an arm and maybe a leg as well, depending on your location. There's no point in buying some cheap crappy 1.8m/2.4m pile of wotsit from Maplin either.

I have heared about the problem of signal in the uk. Its a real shame because ShowSports is by far the best package for multiple live PL games.
It also shows live rugby league games which I also watch on sly.
There is also the option of choosing english lingo. But it seems, like you say, it won't be possible without splashing out big on a 3m dish - which i agree with you, probably isn't worth it.

So that leaves me still searching for a perfect package to view live PL games. I was considering an Al Jazeera Sports package but they have recently lost the right to broadcast live PL games a the 3pm time slot.
Do you know of any good packages for live 3pm PL games?
I would like to use it as a substitute for sly sports? any ideas?

The best packages for 3pm football are probably Sky Italia & the Nordic services on 1W. Both will cost a thousand quid a year if you have to use a uk based reseller - half as much again if you want the HD version!

With regards to Digi TV on 1W mentioned earlier, patches wont last much longer - we are expecting the card swap to be completed before this summer so the channels could go secure at any time in the next few weeks or months.

Sky Italy is the best package but like you say is extremely expensive. Canal Nordic on 0.8w has lost the right to show PL games for this season but next season i hear that it will be showing 3 saturday PL games simultaneously. Canal Nordic isn't the cheapest but it probably will be when DigitAlb switches off this year. Also I have worked out that Canal Nordic will cost me less per year than the amount that i'm paying for sly at the moment. It's a possibility...
