Default Starting From Scratch

Hi all,
I am completely new to the forum so i know absolutely nothing about satellites at all!
I have been searching all over the internet but i still can't seem to understand what i need to do.
The facts are:
I am a big football fan and all i want to do is to watch live premier league football matches on my tv. I usually watch a poor quality stream on the internet but now i'd like to get a standard tv definition game.

First:
What equipment will i need (how much will it cost?)

Second:
Is it possible to receive premier league games off FTA channels i.e I will not have to pay for a subscription? I just have to buy the equipment and then i can watch all the games for free?

Please get back to me asap as i'd like to buy the equipment asap, cheers EFC-STH

Thanks, however does this mean that i am trying to complete an impossible task here? in the 'totally new' thread it says that there's not much premier league football for free - they're all subscription. Do you know if i will be able to receive free premier league football?

Hi mate, the only satellite where PL is now viewable is on the DigiTV package on Thor 1W and it is by using patches or EMUs. Be under no illusion that it will be going this time next year, because it is going to go to N3 soon, all the channels are dual encrypted in N2 and N3 at the moment.

Thanks for the advice,
Just so that i'm clear, the only soure of free PL games is changing its encryption type to N3 so that the only way os receiving free live PL games would be to pay for a subscription?

To be honest, PL games are the only reason that I want all this satellite stuff - I don't want to pay for a subscription - If this change is taking place next year Is it really worth buying all the equipment?

Advice Needed! thanks, EFC-STH

Sorry, Before I forget

Does N2 and N3 stand for NagraVision2 and Nagravision3?
And when you say theyre all moving to N3 does this mean that at the moment you can only view N2 but next year all encryptions will be N3 which is unavailable without subscribtion?

Thanks Again, EFC-STH

Only you will know the answer to that, but there are ways of getting the game, and you got to remember that you would be looking at getting 3PM kick off's, something you will not get with Sly. There is the option of buying a card, some are quite cheap, I got an al Jazeera Sports card from Ian at Southernsatellites for £119 delivered. There is the option, with the right receiver, of using CS for the games, but that is something which we do not allow any discussion about in TW, so if you would like to find out anything about it I would point you to Google. You would be well advised to give Ian at Southernsatellite a call, he will be able to tell you all you need to know about receiver and what cards would do your job. If you go down the card route then it need not cost you a lot, a TM receiver is not that dear and cards are OK too, but some cards can cost a lot, Sly Italy being one, it would cost you over £1100 in Britain, but less if you know someone who can get you the card and has an address in Italy, then the cost come down a good bit and I think you get a receiver into the deal.

Hi sorry I did not see your post as I was writing my last. You are quite right in what you say, with the exception of the timing, the channels could go any time at all and it will be this year, not next.

Sorry mate,
I really am new to this! lol
Is the al jazeera sports card a subscription (i.e once you have paid for the card you still must pay 'x' amount each month)
Or just a one off payment for the card and you get a year's subscription?

If i purchased a card - i'm assuming that it would slot into the freesat box (e.g. a dreambox) so i would still be getting all the equipment exactly as i intended to do originally - but instead of receiving the footy for free, i would be paying for the al jazeera subscription

Finally, is a CS - A Channel Stacker?

Thanks again for your advice, EFC-STH

CS is "Card Share" - as posted though, there are no guides on here. Just put it in google, and you should find all the info you need.
