Default Can the sky default channel be changed?

Is it possible to set up a sky box so that it returns to the last channel it was on before switching the box off - much in the same way a TV does?

many thanks

Halil

Don't quite understand what you mean mate. If you turn any receiver of and it was on the BBC News channel, when you turn it on again it should still be on the same channel. That is the way any of my boxes works and any box that I have ever had, with the exception of my Dreambox 7025, which will not if it is rebooted, but that is not the same as just turning it of and then on.

If the power is interrupted it will resume on 998 or something like that.

There are little programmable ir type blasters you can get that will returrn a digibox to a particular channel after a power failure - hotels use them in their distribution systems.

No idea where you would source such a gizmo from - one of the installation guys might know.

I tried to get a box set to new default channels a few years back but Sky didn't want to know. The box was secondhand from Scotland so I got BBC Scotland as the local channel. In theory you could get a new card and have it activated for your local area.

If you buy an FTV card, when it is paired to the box it will reset the local area. If it dosent once the card is in Sky can do an over the air update to make the box change. I've done it with a couple of secondhand boxes now and it works fine. An FTV card will set you back £20.00
