Default 256 newly soldered SPI.. HELP

Hi, I have just done my first 256. I bought an SPI chip pre flashed from Bad_ad84's store and soldered it onto a new 256. I am however having some problems with the modem. The modem will not lock at all, it just keeps on scanning. Now I know some of you will say; change the mac, change the frequency, make sure the settings are correct.. ect. That's not the problem as I have a couple of 250/255 which I have used with the same macs and they work perfectly, same settings and everything.

Another problem is the menu's in Haxorware, they take forever to load and when they do it takes even longer to save any settings. I'm talking about in excess of 10 minutes to save some of the settings and reload the page. It will not reboot the modem either. The lights on the front of the modem are different as well, the first light comes on and stays steady and the second light flashes erratically, which I assume is normal, but no other lights come on.

I realise that this is my first modem that I have re-soldered an SPI chip so I may have messed it up but there is no visible joining of any of the pins on the SPI and all seems to be soldered correctly. There is burning of the board but this is very minimal. I also practised a lot prior and can de-solder and resolder a tsop.

I hope someone can help as this is kind of baffling me. I can post some pic's of the soldering if it will help but does anyone know what the problem may be or advise any possible solutions? Thanks
