Default Eurovox EX1100.28% Signal In Reading Berkshire.Any Cures??

I have got the eurovox ex1100 but sadly it diesplays no stations

This may be because the signal is stuck at 28%

Im based in Reading Berkshire

Postcode area RG1

Any cures for this??

Or have I just wasted £90?

I have a live Virgin Media feed and when i switch over boxes back to virgin it picks up everything so it definatley aint my wiring!

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks guys

Have you tried both symbol rates?
I believe yours should be 6887 (ex nthell).

Hey andybrock I have yes

Still 28% though

First time I did it the box loaded 2 settings but 1 failed and the other had no result

Since then when scanning it picks up nothing what so ever

BUT when you reset/clear the box it again picks up 2 but one fails and upon doing it again nothing gets picked up

My wires are perfect as the Virgin Box (samsung 2110c) picks them up as usual right away

Im using a splitter and have one downstairs and one in the bedroom!

Took the box downstairs, removed the splitter and tried again with the direct feed but HEY PRESTO still nothing

Feel like a mug as I have invested in two and they dont seem to be working

What else can I do?

Is this a general problem in Reading?

Do all boxes (starview,d box, dreambox etc) all work the same??

I had a chipped box and card and all seemed to be going well until one day it sparks from the inside!Since then I havent used it (scares me) and Ive put it away but as a single mum the kids are doing my head in so I invested in two and promised them it would be back to normal but it isnt

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Its a strange one this, supposedly both boxes are the same and wont find anything ? do they have the firmware on them? and you do have the feed plugged into the correct socket on the boxes then it has to be down to the feed cable somewhere, these boxes are very sensitive indeed in regard to signal problems and it doesn't take very much for it to be affected,it might even be just the connector on the feed that is a bit dodgy for instance ....Virgin boxes are much more tolerant ....

To summarise check that the box/es have the software on them, you would do this by going into the menu and checking the configuration and also check the connector on the end of the feed cable, does it feel solid ?

Hiya

This is great. Thanks for the replies

Ive tried everything as you have stated

Still nothing

Im waiting for a mate of mine who is more 'technically' minded coming around at midday today (3rd Feb 2010) so perhaps he could give it a go!

Are their any other alternatives to this?

& yes I have 2 boxes.EX1100 (usb ones)!

They both come up with nothing

Is this a good box to buy?

& secoundly Im assuming it is possible to get this up and running in Reading Berkshire correct?

I also have a big older type of NTL box which takes a card!

That was working fine as well but all of a sudden when power was going to it the box was giving out sparks from the inside. As in something was burning inside!

This did scare me as you could smell something burning but why is this?

Is it down to the power supply?

Can this be rectfied??

I will pay for someone to help me out of this pickle Im in because I dont know what to do!

The old box was working fine.Had all the stations (not ppv but all sports, movies etc) and then it started to spark hence I have stopped using it and bought two new ones!

Is their any chance someone could give me 1 2 1 technical help privately?

You can come to my house and I will pay for your time and effort!

Alternatively I have a paypal account so I can pay from their as well!

Im desperate to have this running by Sunday

My son idolises Chelsea and he would do anything to watch the match on Sunday against Arsenal

My apolagies if I come accross dumb and desperate!

Im just not the smartest with these type of things!

Thanks for all the help up to now

The world is a better place with chaps like you out their!

Regarding the old ype NTL box you did the right thing in shutting it down,it could well be dangerous now,it could be almost anything inside that has given up the ghost,it could be repaired I suppose if you could find someone to sort it out,but its not worth it really for what it might cost especially with the ghost of Nagra 3 looming ever near, when all boxes will become useless....

About the only thing I can suggest at the moment is to either borrow or buy a signal booster to see if that will help, lots of members have found they do ....there is no reason at all why you cant get it to work in your area,it should do ...

If you did go for the signal booster option you would connect the incoming feed into it then connect the booster direct into the 1100 ...that would boost the signal then supposing both boxes were not faulty (not likely) you should be able to scan sucessfully ....you can get the signal boosters from Argos,if you go to their website and in the search type in signal booster it should show you what they have,(usually two types)...

And yes all boxes basically work the same way, only too happy if I can help any more ....

Hiya

Which signal booster would you recommend?

Any things a go at this point!

How do I check the software as when I click on mneu it displays

CHANNELS INSTALL PREFERENCE TOOLS REC

Above are the sub headings which then drop down into different menus but none tell me the software!

And with the symbol rates I can only switch between 4

I click on fast scan and under symbol rate the following appear

6887mbaud
6875mbaud
6111mbaud
6952mbaud

Thats all

From reading up on the website I believe Reading Berkshire Is

Reading NTL, 00013 803000 6887

But I can not see nothing like 00013 or 803000

Making a cup of coffee

Been up most of the night trying to fix this darn thing

One other thing

Are their any 'special' boxes out their which run off a sky feed opposed to virgin?

I ask as I also have a sky set up and if they where more reliable I may opt for that!

How would I know if the box is dodgy or fake?
