Veteran presenter Denis Norden has announced his retirement after thirty years working with ITV.
The 84-year-old is best known for his TV outtakes series It'll be Alright on the Night and oddball clips series Denis Norden's Laughter File and has also worked on shows including The Glums (1978), Pick Of The Pilots (1990) and Denis Norden’s Trailer Cinema (1992). Before his retirement, Norden will record one final entertainment special that will act as a "farewell tour" to his numerous shows from over the years. Called All the Best From Denis Norden, the special will be filmed next month for transmission later this year. “Denis Norden is the longest-serving entertainment star on ITV, and it’s been our privilege to work with him since the first edition of It’ll Be Alright On the Night back in 1977," said Mark Wells, controller of entertainment for ITV Productions. "He’s remained involved with every aspect of his shows – writing, presenting, and selecting the material, and his knowledge of comedy is unrivalled in British broadcasting. Like the viewers, we shall miss him but wish him the very best for his retirement.†|
