Default HMRC email Scam

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up on a new SCAM doing the rounds.

I recieved the following email today from "customers@hmrc.gov.uk" <customers@hmrc.gov.uk>

Quote:
HM Revenue & Customs

Dear Applicant:

Following an upgrade of our computer systems and review of our
records we have investigated your payments and latest tax returns
over the last seven years our calculations show you have made over
payments of £ 238.40.

Due to the high volume of refunds due you must complete the on line
application, the telephone help line is unable to assist with this application.
In order to process your refund you will need to complete the attached
application form.

Your refund may take up to 6 weeks to process please make sure you
complete the form correctly.
As we are upgrading our records we require the completed form
showing your full current details by February, 07 2010

To access the form for your tax refund, please click here

If you click on the link it takes you to what appears to be a HMRC page, but if you look at the http address it reads as follows h**p://server.buildynetworks.com which is obvioulsy not HMRC, but it does look convincing. Oh and none of the links work, they just throw you to the same page.

Just one to watch out for.

i just recieved one from ''Paypal'' sayin my account susspended want to now the reason click here and it took me to some page asking for details lol be aware

Cant believe people actually fall for these email scams , No Legitimate company in the world would ever request anybody to update there records via email .

I'm sure most people who see these have no doubt that they are a scam.

After all - They are normally badly written, and these companies wouldn't ask for the information they are asking for.

Trouble is the people who rarely use the internet or who are elderly and have no experiance with the internet/computers these are the people who they target
