Default sky+ problem now missing channels

hi there!
i have a sky+ and just a week ago i had channels comming and going(skynews channel5 music channels etc) now they gone completely!
i have checked the dish and it has not come loose, and lnb not loose!

does it have a polorizer in the lnb and can this be the fault as i seem to have lost a block of channels?
thanks

p.s is there a list of channels and freqeuncy/polorizer details i could look up to test my theory?
thanks

Could be a failing LNb, misaligned dish, outside interference or if you have a Thomson or Grundig receiver, could well be in need of a repair.

It seems strange that you would loss channels which should have a very strong signal quality, are you able to get the BBC, ITV channels? Can you check and see if the channels you are not receiving are Horizontal or Vertical polarised ones, because if they are just one or the other then I would suspect your LBN is on it's last legs.

I see this is on a daily occurane. The tennant automatically blames the IRS system their Tv/sat is hooked upto even when they are shown that its working fine on a meter that cost 15 times as much as there crappy Sky HD box

I have lost count of the amount of times i have had arguments with the tennant because some so called engineer from Sky who doesn't know his arse from his elbow says that there cant possibly be a problem with the box because it states error code 25 or error code 28

It could be a problem with your lnb but as satman said its probably the Sky box

All is not lost, you can buy Sky+ (Standard Def) on ebay for £20 upwards

Just make sure you get the sky card re-paired to it if you subscribe any of the premium channels

as i said in my previous post, sky+ and sky+HDearly boxes were all Thompson boxes and are all fitted with the crappy psu . now i believe they no longer use any Thompson boxes they are now pace boxes so i guess if your one of the early adopters of sky+/sky+HD once again you been shafted with an inferior product and will have to pay for new reliable box(why sky cant help out there early supporters is beyond me)or get powerboard upgraded follow the webpage's

Thompson is a word used for any old box, there is no real Thompson producer, the name covers a multitude of unbranded boxes which are given that name for the sake of having a name on the box, this has been going on for a long time, well over 45 years to my knowing. So when you buy a Thompson anything be sure it is not a real brand of anything just a generic mane given to cheap products which if you know the real producer you would keep well away from, not that the name would mean anything to you in the first place.

its definately a psu fault on my box!! i dug out the old pace skybox and all channels perfect! im getting it repaired with better psu, i have to as found out all new manafacturers pace, samsung, amstrad all now supply boxes with hdmi only,no componant ports on these boxes.. so if you have a tv that you use componant on and you have a problem box just be aware that all new box's are hdmi only and scart of course lol
