Default wii softmod? is this right

from the guide i read on here it doesnt say anything about using a game to softmod it like zelda
so does this mean that you can softmod without having a game like zelda

Google Bannerbomb, this is an exploit you can use and you don't need the Zelda game anymore .

Use this guide mate, you only needed to use zelda TP for the old softmodding method. The new method uses a program called 'trucha bug restorer' instead!

I have used this guide on 5 wii's and it works great. I would say that this is the best and most newb friendly guide on the net that will explain the process step by step. The guide is totally up to date! Try and avoid any old outdated guides and follow this one instead. As mentioned previously, bannerbomb and all of the other essential stuff for the softmod can be downloaded via this guide and the files will be totally up to date and trustworthy!

The email is an auto-responder and is quite safe. The reason you have to email is because this will make sure that you get the UP TO DATE files for the softmod (i.e to stop you getting the files from elsewhere and potentially bricking the wii with old apps.) The email address bit is NOT there so they can spam you!!! far from that reason! The wii modding scene has been know to change very rapidly in recent months the email method is only there as a failsafe and the only legal'(ish) way of distributing n1nt3ndo's wad files! By that i mean the forum will not allow direct links to nintendo's files.

As soon as you hit the send button you will receive the files in your email almost immediately. Then you just click on your region i.e PAL and dl the files (in a rar file) knowing they are the correct and most up to date files for the job!

There is no wait on the reply email and the files are sent to you immediately.

There has been quite a few updates in recent months hence the reason for the email method to stop eager newb's from using old and outdated apps and hacks and bricking their wii.

The site in question, GBAtemp is kind of the official site or as official as its gonna get! for doing this procedure and most of the people who contribute to this guide are the people who actually make all of the softmodding apps that you see passed around the net i.e 'trucher bug restorer' by wiipower which is safer, faster, better and more modern than using the Zelda TP ocarina hack which is now kind of outdated!!, Wiipower has also created Neogamma app for playing backup disks and triiforce app for playing wiiware and virtual console games via a nand emulator. Wiipower works with the original developers i.e 'Waninkoko', who is the guy who made this whole soft-modding thing possible in the first place for the wii!

The guide will also update you wii to system menu 4.2 which is the latest version of the wii system menu. Upon finishing this guide you should have everything you should ever want or need on your newly soft modded wii!

As i said most of the main wii hacking developers hang around this site!
I Hope this put's your mind at rest on the whole 'email' issue!

i managed to get the homebrew channel on my wii
using the wii hacks tutorial
but now it tells me to

'Step 3 - Restoring The Bug Into IOS36

a) Load and Homebrew Channel and run DOP-IOS MOD, on the IOS Selection Screen, press down on the d-pad then A on the wiimote. You should now be in the trucha bug restorer portion of DOP-IOS MOD. Load IOS36 and select Downgrade IOS15. Each time it asks, select 'Load from SD'
Make sure you get no errors. If Loading IOS36 doesn't work for this step, press B for no IOS reload when asked to load IOS.

b) Run DOP-IOS MOD again, on the IOS Selection Screen, press down on the d-pad and press A. Load IOS15 and choose IOS36 Menu. Make sure to install the patched IOS36 with all these patches selected:
Install IOS to slot (36)
Hash Check (trucha) Yes
ES_Identify Yes
NAND Permissions Yes'

none of that crap works
i follow it perfectly and it says carnt load it form the sd card
do i need to do this or can i just put a backup loader on there now somehow?
new to this
i followed the **** guide by the looks of it
its just danielles pack for the wii is too big for me to download now im on a shitty 0.25meg mac code for my internet so my download speed is 25 kb s lol
