80cm - 1m is popular for motorised. The smaller you go the less you can recieve. The Triax TD88 is very popular, or maybe look at somehing like the Farraco Penta. Without knowing what you want to be able to recieve is difficult to give anything other than general advice.

For a good general mix i would suggest either the Triax TD88, or the Farraco Penta 85. It you want to go a little bigger, how about the TD110. You would pick up most of the European stuff on any of those dishes.

It also depends where you need to site your dish, to be able to track the satellite arc.
If you're lucky and you have a South facing garden, where neighbours don't notice, you can get away with a 1.2M dish, but the legal stance is usually up to 1M, without seeking planning permission.
You also want to consider the location regarding exposure to high winds, and other stressful weather patterns.
If it needs to se sited on the front of the house I would consider the Fracarro penta 85cm, it performs quite well and looks aesthetically pleasing, have a look in the members pictures section.

Hi mate I would suggest one of the TM receivers, they are easy to set up and are well supported. With most of the TMs they can be patched to receive what is open with keys now, which is not a lot and the digiTV package is about to go to N3, but for value for money and ease of use you could not get much better.

Regards Wez

People quite often change/update their receiver but usually keep the same motorized dish for many years.
There are far too many receivers to go into the pros and cons, it all depends on what you want it to do, e.g. twin tuner, recordable hard drive, etc.. but starting with a cheap basic model should get you going.
