Btw, the original lazy engineer was a Sky Installer, Sky van with Homer Simpson on the side, and the Sky Uniform.

Anyway, instaled on Monday by a sub-contractor, put up a new dish (which sky engineer wouldnt have done), and said that the Sky engineer should have installed it, told us complain.
btw mate, how much did it set you back,...if you dont mind me asking?

Nothing mate, it was a free install.
We got a free sky HD box, free extra box and free installation.

The original engineer left us with a load of cable to get phone-line into the correct rooms, because he said they must NEVER be took off the phone-line, even when moving rooms:/

But yeah, he rebooked it for us on Monday, and the sub-contractor turned up..

Hope that helps...

Can anyone confirm if Sky Multi-room box's need to be connected to a Phone socket or will a manual setup be acceptable?

As Contractors we do actually better than SKY engineers as a matter of fact. We use all the safety equipment that is required, plus we have more pride in our jobs. The main reason being that we are paid on Piece work, therefore we get paid for the jobs we complete successfully. If I do a job for a customer and I do it incorrectly and another engineer gets assigned to the call back 'I LOSE THE PAY FOR THE JOB'. It's in my best interest to do the job right 1st time round. SKY engineers are salaried. i.e. paid the same monthly regardless!!

Not all contractors are the same granted but we do get WAY MORE work than the working day allows!!!! We are given 1000mins minimum per day!!!!

I think the final paragraph sums up the "contractor problem". Getting too much work for the day leads to temptation to cut corners or even skip jobs which will take too long to complete.
