Default Sky Multi-room - Engineer Wouldnt Install

So this morning the man from Sky pulled up outside.
He came in and asked about phone lines, he said that both boxes would need to connected to the phone line as they would not be able to receive channels (I know this isn't current; its just for them to callback).

1 box was going downstairs, and the other upstairs in the front bedroom.
He said he could run it all around and kept coming out with excuses like we wouldn't like how he would run the cable around the house. It was also a lot do.

He didnt even have to put a satellite up though because there was already a decent one on the side of the house.

So, he left us with some cable and re-arranged to come back on Monday...

Should he have done this, or, is it a case of "Friday Working"?

he probably was trying to get out of a long cable run. but you do have to have both boxs connected by a phone line or they will switch any box of that isnt. its so you dont get multiroom and let your kid take it to uni or split the cost with someone.

You don't need a phone line for a single box.

You do need a phone line to each box for multiroom.

You can buy wireless phone line extenders.

Clarification from the OP:-

Did you mean the coax or the phone cable?

You are to provide your own phone connection I believe.

Sky are responsible for providing the satellite feeds I believe.

Sky insist on multiroom boxes being connected to the same phone line so that you dont give someone else a reduced subscription, or take the box out of the country to a holiday home in Spain.

The boxes dial home overnight once a month for a connection check.

I'll bet it was a sub-contract installer trying to get out of an awkward job. They get paid peanuts, so there's no wonder that you get Monkeys sometimes

Sky installed now and working amazing!
Love the HD

Btw, the original lazy engineer was a Sky Installer, Sky van with Homer Simpson on the side, and the Sky Uniform.

Anyway, instaled on Monday by a sub-contractor, put up a new dish (which sky engineer wouldnt have done), and said that the Sky engineer should have installed it, told us complain.
