Default Is it worth me investing in a Motorized dish?

Hi guys, I know i should be searching, etc. But i thought mite be easier to get advise from some one who knows 100% rather than reading contradiciting posts.....

I have a dreambox 500s, currently connected to a sky uk dish, no card share or anything like that, I have been looking down this route, however before i have to go down.

Question 1
1.) If i get a motorized system installed, is it possible for me to get movie channels(english), some sports(cricket), and normal soap channels, etc ?

2.) I live in the souteast, I will be getting a 1m dish with motor. Is this setup relevant or do i need a bigger dish?

3.) Finally are any of the free to air channels any good? I understand that its down to what I watch. But i don't really watch that much tv,

More my rents like to watch asian channels

Zee
Sony
Star Plus, etc. Are these available? (Vunerable via a different method other than card share).

Thanks AJ

There are some Asian channels available on 9e and 28E of course. Maybe one of the ones you mention, you'll have to check flysat, lyngsat etc.

In the SE a 1m dish will get you 26E and possibly 7W.

Fox series is FTA on 7W, plus a couple of other channels with English audio.

The MBC channels are on both 26E and 7W. They also show English stuff, with plenty of movies.

There are often also other channels around the arc that show English FTA stuff.

I know nothing about cricket at all.

I would say it is worth it for you yes, given your location, and a hint of some of what you want to watch.

I can't answer that for you. The only reason a larger dish would be needed is to get Nilesat reliably. Above a 1m things start getting more expensive. I don't include the TriaxTD110 in that, becuase actually its only really a 1m dish.

When it comes to Cricket, there is occasional coverage on soem of the Asian channels on 13e. You do sometimes get feeds, especially the Highlights package of internationals in England, quite often you may find a Sky Sports News feed from a single camera at a county ground.

Some of the cheaper dishes are not that good, Triax are a very good make for a budget dish, I would always recommend them. 88cm and 110cm are the 2 popular sizes, that is the larger (top to bottom) dimension rather than the smaller (side to side) dimension.

85cm should be good. I myself have a 1m thats not set up yet unfortunately. your dm 500s may not be able to power a motor, so youd be best of getting either a technomate or an openmedia for a cheap box

Oh and youll also need a motor

Just considering the Td88 and td110 that lincsat mentions for example, with the td88 you get 26E, with the td110 you get a better sig on 26e plus 7W when not raining.

16e is also a bit of a prob at the mo' so an 85cm may stuggle, wheras a 1m works ok on tps that are working.

The td88 is actually a 90cm dish accross, the TD110 is 110cm tall.

I remember SS recommending the Orbital dish a while ago when I asked whats the difference between that and a more expensive mesh dish. TBH, I dont know if mine is an "Orbital" Dish as I saw no name on the dish, but I got a good deal, so Im not complaining
