What's the best way to connect Cable Box to DVD Recorder?

Hi All

Hoping someone can help with this.

I have connected:

1. my cable box to my lcd tv via hdmi
2. my dvd/hdd recorder to my lcd tv via hdmi
3. my cable box to my dvd/hdd recorder via a QED Scart lead.

The problem is that when I record tv on my dvd/hdd recorder it's not good quality.

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

If its a V+ cable box either use component connection ie red blue and green plus 2 audio, or if recorder has 2 hdmi cable box to recorder and recorder to tv, using scart to hd recorder will degrade quality.
Im wondering why you dont record on V+ unless you just want dvd's ?

Hi reddiesel and thank you for your reply,

The cable box is a eurovox 7000hd and it has a component out, but the dvd/hdd recorder has a component out as well and no component in

The dvd recorder only has 1 hdmi.

it sounds as though your recorder can only record through scart and rf (i.e standard definition) so thats the best you will be able to get im afraid.

Hi rawsy, thanks for the reply.

Thats bad news . I bought it a few months ago to match my tv colour and I have only used it for only few minutes . Now it looks like I will have to sell it.
