![]() Certificate: 15 Runtime: 96mins Release date: 28/04/2006 (selected cinemas) Answering the call of his mid-life crisis, Andy Sargentee (Jeff Bridges) hatches a hare-brained idea to film a blue movie starring his friends and neighbours. Local residents are soon queuing up for their moment in the spotlight, forever changing the day-to-day life of the previously sleepy community. Andy takes a producer role along with his good friend Barney (Tim Blake Nelson), while the aptly named Some Idiot (Joe Pantoliano) installs himself as writer-director. Lovable video store clerk Emmett (Patrick Fugit) lives out his filmmaking fantasies as the director of photography, while the overtly gay Moose (Ted Danson), who has tried to act butch to hide his true sexuality, reluctantly takes on the daunting task of playing leading man. He's not up to the task, so to speak. As the camera rolls, insecurities and inadequacies bring out the best and worst in cast and crew, and Andy struggles to realise his mucky-minded dream on celluloid and to be a good father to his young son. |
